BSHS Viewpoint feature on Destroying Nature

I was delighted to write a short feature on our Destroying Nature project at the Great North Museum: Hancock for Viewpoint - the magazine of the British Society for the History of Science (BSHS).

This piece reflects on the process of developing our collaboration with the GNM - and our aspiration foster active learning about the history of nature and the environment for our undergraduate students at Newcastle University. I think there is something especially powerful about asking students to research and re-interpret museum objects that opens up very personal reflections on our relationship to the past. It is a project I am really proud of and hope we can run again before too long! With thanks of course to the BSHS for the Outreach and Engagement Project Grant which funded this work.
