New publication: Imperial sleep

I am delighted that my latest publication has now appeared in the Journal of Social History. ‘Imperial Sleep: Race, climate and health in late nineteenth and early twentieth century British India,’ explores the history of sleep in the context of colonial India. Drawing on an emerging historiography in critical histories of sleep - it argues that looking to sleep practices can tell us more about how the divisions between colonised and coloniser were created and sustained.
