Hello! I’m a Historian, Curator, Author and Communicator.
My Mission
How do we know what we know? I believe the past has an impact on our world. The ideas, values and structures of our society are all influenced by history. I am passionate about communicating history in a fun and accessible way through publications, exhibitions and engagement.
About me.
I am a historian, curator and researcher who thinks critically about how bodies and worlds meet. I work at the intersection of environmental history and the history of science, medicine and technology to explore the connections between bodies, environments and health. I am currently Lecturer in Environmental History at Newcastle University. Previously I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Copenhagen. I gained my PhD from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in 2018.
I’m also a museum professional with 10 years of experience. I have worked in collections and curatorial roles at the Science Museum in London, the Hunterian Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons, and the Royal College of Physicians Museum. I am passionate about building bridges between museum practice and academic research.
My first book Imperial Bodies in London was published by University of Pittsburgh Press in 2021 and I am currently writing a history of circadian rhythms for Polity Press.
